Highlights of the Toyota Highlander

This year, the Highlander dropped its V6 engine for a new turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder model. This new engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and uses front- or all-wheel drive. There is also a hybrid version that utilizes a 2.5-liter four-cylinder and two electric motors to produce 243 horsepower. As for its fuel economy, the base engine gets an estimated 24 mpg combined. While the hybrid version offers a higher rating at 36/35 miles per gallon.

Across its six trims, Runnemede and Vineland drivers will find other new changes. These include a new 12.3-inch display and a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster offered on Limited and Platinum trims. Plus, power-folding exterior mirrors and a hands-free power rear liftgate on higher trims.

Addition features include an eight-inch touchscreen, Amazon Alexa smartphone integration, and an onboard Wi-Fi hotspot. For your safety, Toyota has also outfitted every trim with Safety Sense 2.5+. This suite of features includes forward collision mitigation, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, and a traffic sign reader. In higher trims, Deptford and Glassboro customers will find front and rear parking sensors and a surround-view camera system.
