On December 17, 2009, a convoy of 25 Toyota Tundra’s drove down Galloway Street in South Philadelphia and into the parking lot of Philabundance. The sight of the trucks in a line was enough to alert anyone’s attention in their direction, but the canned food that was collected and transported in the beds of the trucks was enough to feed numerous families in the Delaware Valley this holiday season and that is truly something to be proud of and to celebrate.
With the help of you and your staff, Toyota was able to donate and deliver 9,670 lbs. of canned items to Philabundance that morning. With that donation, the TDA has delivered over 22,000 lbs. of food to Philabundance to date! The Philabundance staff was delighted to see everyone’s willingness to not only participate in the collection within their dealerships, but to also set aside time from hectic work and holiday schedules to lend such a generous hand to the community. And our special guests, former Flyer Bob “The Hound” Kelly, the Phillie Phanatic, the 76ers Hip Hop, and Phillies announcers Scott Franzke and Tom McCarthy, were a memorable addition to the delivery. This event was covered by NBC10 and it aired on the 6:00 PM news broadcast with Tim Lake. The canned goods have already gone out to feed those in need and we are all grateful for your concern for the less fortunate.
